“Minecraft,” “King of Kings” Rule Box-Office

Warner Bros. Pictures’ “A Minecraft Movie” is on track for an $80+ million second weekend at the domestic box-office. Should it hold at $80 million, the title will have a sophomore drop of 51%.

That number will go lower if the film overperforms again like it did in its debut. Domestically the game-to-film adaptation will have pulled in at least $280 million by Sunday, and around $434 million internationally.Coming in second is “King of Kings,” the animated, faith-based, Charles Dickens-Jesus film which looks to debut at around $17.



6 million. That’s the strong opening for an animated Biblical movie, beating the $14.5 million debut of “Prince of Egypt” in 1998.

Taking up those third through six spots were the Rami Malek-led Disney film “The Amateur” (B+ CinemaScore) which debuted to a decent $15 million, Alex Garland’s wartime drama “Warfare” (A-) in fourth at an underwhelming $8 million, Christopher Landon’s thriller “Drop” (B) at fifth with a disappointing $7.7 million, and “The Chosen Last Supper Part 3” in sixth with $6.3 million.

Rounding out the top ten were “A Working Man” with $3.1 million, “Snow White” with $2.8 million, “Woman in the Yard” with $2.
