The Constitutional Court plans to announce its verdict on Yoon’s impeachment Friday, nearly four months after he was impeached by the National Assembly over his brief imposition of martial law on Dec.
3. “We will take necessary measures and elevate our surveillance posture,” JCS spokesperson Col. Lee Sung-jun said in a press briefing, when asked if the military plans to conduct security-related measures on the day of the ruling.
Police have placed their forces on the second-highest alert Thursday, while the highest alert assigning the entire forces will be issued on Friday. Acting Defense Minister Kim Seon-ho is expected to hold a meeting of key commanders following the impeachment ruling. (Yonhap).
