The weather was mild for a December night, adding to the level of warm cheer at the Culpeper Christmas Parade on Sunday downtown. Hundreds lined Main Street for the holiday procession featuring lights, music, fake snow, dancing and local leaders, all in support of Wreaths Across America at Culpeper National Cemetery. Parade entries sponsored more than 1,500 wreaths for placement at the graves of veterans on Wreaths Across America Day this Saturday.
Brenco Solutions, a Culpeper-based contractor, was the largest sponsor of wreaths followed by the Culpeper Eagles. Grand marshals were all Culpeper veterans, and led the parade on a Wreaths Across America float that stopped at the judges’ stand. The veterans were introduced — Steve Jones, retired U.
S. Marines, Carl Payne, a U.S.
Army veteran, Dr. Robert McCall, a local dentist who served in the U.S.
Navy, Air Force veteran Harry Smith and George Norris, a veteran of the Marines. People are also reading..

Parade organizer Marshall Keene said he was very pleased with how the parade went and how the community stepped up to support veterans laid to rest at Culpeper National Cemetery. “The Wreaths Across America VA 1029 Culpeper Christmas Parade Committee thanks everyone who made the parade and wreaths sponsorships a success,” Keene said.
Keene added Christmastime is a season when everyone can come together as a community, Keene added. “The parade committee is blessed that town council’s continued support allows us to have a parade and support our veterans at the same time,” Keene said.
