Emmanuel Petit does not think Arsenal will sign Raheem Sterling despite the Gunners being the ‘likeliest’ to move for him on deadline day. The Chelsea winger is available during the final hours of the summer transfer. He has been told by boss Enzo Maresca that he can leave Chelsea after not figuring in the Italian’s plans.

Since then, a number of clubs including Manchester United , Juventus , Aston Villa and Crystal Palace have all been linked. Arsenal were also touted as a potential option for the England wideman. On deadline day, Manchester Evening News suggested that the Emirates was the ‘likeliest’ destination for Sterling after United dropped their interest, while his relationship with Mikel Arteta could prove beneficial.

But ex-Gunner Petit cannot see a deal coming to fruition over the next few hours, and believes that there are better options available to his former side. Speaking to Safest Casino Sites , the Frenchman said: "Nope, Arsenal won't sign Raheem Sterling. “Since Sterling left Liverpool , he hasn't improved a whole lot at Manchester City and Chelsea.

Sterling can have big moments but there is no consistency in his performances. “He still needs to improve his final ball and needs to score more, this is the main problem. This is something that Mikel Arteta will not want in his team, he wants young and hungry player, Sterling won't improve more than another young winger.

" Mikel Arteta has already spoken out on his thoughts on Sterling but remained tight-lipped over the prospect of a move to Arsenal. Speaking last week, the Spaniard said: "My time with Raheem was exceptional. Would Raheem Sterling be a good signing for Arsenal? Share your thoughts in the comments below “We built a really strong relationship together.

He was unbelievable at that time. He taught me a lot as well, about individuals, how the players think, how we help them and support them. He is someone I have really strong feelings about.

" Should Arsenal not swoop for Sterling’s services over the coming hours, it leaves him in a very difficult position. He is out of favour with new boss Maresca, while he does also not have a squad number having seen his number 7 shirt claimed by summer signing Pedro Neto. He could also face even more competition at Stamford Bridge after the transfer window closes.

Reports suggest that Chelsea are closing in on an agreement with Manchester United to sign Jadon Sancho . Sterling has three years left to run on the long-term contract he signed when moving from Manchester City for £47m. He has made 81 appearances since then, scoring 19 goals.
