The first three seasons of The White Lotus , which exploded into carnage with its season three finale , have all been at luxury resorts by the beach. However, creator Mike White has teased that the location for season four may not have quite the same waves crashing against its walls. “For the fourth season, I want to get a little bit out of the crashing waves of rocks vernacular but there’s always more room for more murders at the White Lotus hotels,” he said at the end of season three.

Season one was set in Hawaii, season two was located in Italy and season three was obviously set in Thailand. It was renewed for a fourth season earlier this year. A source added that “everything is on the table for next season” but that no decision has been made. White didn’t give any more details away, but his tease suggests that it might not be at one of the hotels that we’d expect. Cast members have warned that White hates the cold so don’t expect a ski version, either.

“We’re going on some locations scouting in the next couple of weeks, so we’ll know soon,” HBO drama chief Francesca Orsi told Deadline in February. “I can’t really say where we’re going to land but chances are somewhere in Europe.” The White Lotus has been working with the Four Seasons chain whose hotels double as White Lotus resorts.

There are plenty of European locations to choose from, including a pretty famous one in the French Riviera..
