Debate between having Justin Fields or Russell Wilson as the starting quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers has been flourishing recently. Steelers legend recently provided his stance on the situation, believing Fields to be the better option because of his ball security. "He's not turning the ball over," Roethlisberger told his co-host Spencer Te'o .

"They're 2-0. Big test this week with the Chargers coming to town. To me, if Russ is healthy, I'm sticking with Justin.

I said it last week, I wouldn't. But what I saw [in Week 2], I think he has earned and deserves the right to stay there." Pittsburgh is currently 2-0 on the season after two weeks, both involving Fields as the starter.

Wilson has been unavailable due to a calf injury suffered during training camp. However, it seems to be clear that Tomlin has made his choice heading into Week 3. Barry Reeger/USA TODAY Sports According to Tomlin's statement on Tuesday, Fields is expected to start at quarterback for the Steelers entering their matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Despite speculation that Wilson might reclaim his starting position, Tomlin has indicated that the team is gearing up for Sunday's game with Fields in the role. “We’re readying ourselves around Justin,” Tomlin told reporters. “We’ll stay in that mindset until something happens.

Hypotheticals are a waste of time.” Tomlin stated that he would not engage in conjecture about the starting quarterback position until Wilson has recovered. Fields has performed decently in his first two starts for Pittsburgh.

In the team's 13-6 victory over the Denver Broncos this past Sunday, Fields connected with wide receiver Darnell Washington for his first touchdown of the season and completed 13 of 20 passes for 117 yards. As for Wilson, he was only able to practice on a limited basis last week and will not participate fully in the Steelers' practice on Wednesday as he continues his recovery. The Steelers are scheduled to face the Chargers at Acrisure Stadium on Sept.
