MIKAELE Ravalaca’s camp turned down a title fight against Ronald Naidu for a contest bout against an Australian opponent that could impact his overall world ranking. Bluewater Boxing Promotion offered Ravalaca and Naidu a shot at the vacant 61kg championship title during the February 22 event in Suva next year. However, Ravalaca’s camp was already in talks with Australian boxer Layton McFerran for a February 28 event.

Ravalaca’s team both in Fiji and Australia had to weigh their options on what was suitable and beneficial for the Ra lad. While they agreed that Bluewater Boxing promoter Samir Khan had a good offer to answer Ravalaca’s call for a title fight, his management chose to decline it. This was because a win against Australian McFerran could very well shift Ravalaca up the rankings.
