MINOT — The Dickinson Midgets’ 2024 season has officially come to an end, following their 3-0 loss to Jamestown in the third-place game of the WDA Regional Tournament. Prior to Saturday’s loss, the Midgets were swept in their semifinal match against Bismarck Century on Friday. In that match, the Midgets lost the first set, 25-14 and came close to tying it at 1-1 but fell in the second, 25-21, and then lost, 25-16 in the final frame.
ADVERTISEMENT Junior outside-hitter Jenna Nelson was held to 13 kills and 7 digs, and junior right-side Lexi Bradley was second on the team with 9 kills. Junior setter Cecilia Homiston led the Midgets with 29 assists and 11 digs. Against Jamestown on Saturday, Nov.
16, DHS dropped the first stanza, 25-22, and then lost 25-15 in the second. The match concluded with Jamestown winning, 25-21. Nelson tallied 22 kills and also made some history, recording her 1,000th career kill in the loss.
Nelson also totaled 9 digs in the match. Junior libero Kaley Embry led the Midgets with 13 digs and also put up 2 aces. Senior middle-hitter Lauren Selle had a kill and 6 digs in her final match as a Midget.
While this was a tough way to bow out, DHS will be a huge threat in the 2025 season, with the majority of the core returning..
