WAYNE Mackintosh is set to play for the final time as he has decided to call time on his playing career. The 37-year-old will take to the field one last time when Nairn County take on Deveronvale at Station Park on Saturday afternoon. Mackintosh has played 410 times for Nairn County, coming through the club’s youth system and made his debut for Nairn County in March 2004 in a North of Scotland Cup match against Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
He spent 13 years with Nairn County in his initial spell, winning the North of Scotland Cup in 2005 and 2009 and then Highland League Cup in 2011, playing through a knee injury in the final defeating Fraserburgh 4-0 in the final at Princess Royal Park in Banff. He received a testimonial match in 2017 before he moved on to join Formartine United. In his time at North Lodge Park, he won another Highland League Cup and also lifted the Aberdeenshire Cup and Aberdeenshire Shield.
After a season at he returned to Nairn County in September 2022. He also played in the where he lifted the trophy for the fourth time in his career with a 5-4 victory in extra time in one of the most dramatic finals in the competition's long history..
