Midfield switches and unchanged areas - Predicted line-up for Wimbledon

Swindon Town travel to London to face play-off hopefuls AFC Wimbledon in another difficult League Two clash, but how could they line-up?

A promising 3-1 victory over Grimsby Town last week has provided evidence that the Robins can compete with the top teams in the division. The Wombles have the second best home form in League Two and have made Plough Lane a fortress. With Joel McGregor and Aaron Drinan out with injury, how could the Robins set up? Goalkeeper: Daniel Barden The Norwich loanee has cemented his spot as Town’s number one.

With a comfortable performance against Grimsby as he didn’t have much to do, he should start for the fifth game in a row. Defence: Ryan Delaney, Grant Hall, Will Wright An unchanged back three. Delaney, Hall and Wright looked comfortable as a three, which is something Swindon fans haven’t seen much this season.

There isn’t need for change as the only concern would be if Hall can play in midweek, but Ian Holloway confirmed that he ‘will need’ the experienced defender. Wright and Delaney also did well so they shouldn’t be dropped, especially with the very short numbers in the centre-back department. Wing-backs: George Cox and Tunmise Sobowale The big discussion at the moment is who should start on the left, Billy Kirkman or Cox.

Whilst both players did well against Grimsby, Cox could edge it. Kirkman has done well recently but he could easily be made to rest until the Bromley or Colchester United games as they come around in quick succession. Sobowale was brilliant against Grimsby, so he won’t be dropped.

Midfield: Gavin Kilkenny, Nnamdi Ofoborh, Ollie Clarke Just the one change in the middle as Joel Cotterill departs the starting team for Ofoborh. Holloway said that the former Rangers midfielder deserves games and this visit to the capital could easily be his time to shine. Kilkenny was not at his best but was still solid last week and it’s obvious what he can do when he’s on his game, which means he will slot into the starting midfield.

Clarke’s performance on Saturday was excellent and he’ll be the first name on the team sheet come Saturday. Strikers: Harry Smith and Kabongo Tshimanga It was a quiet game for Smith against the Mariners. He has been unstoppable in recent games so one bad performance isn’t enough to drop him as he can offer a lot and Paul Glatzel won’t be able to fill his void.

Tshimanga put in his best performance in a Town shirt in the 3-1 victory and displayed that he can score goals at this level. It’s been a slow start but hopefully the brace will spur him on as he should start at Plough Lane..
