Fried eggs are a staple of British breakfasts, a key component of the Full English (or Full Welsh or Full Scottish or Ulster Fry) which may not be the healthiest but is a tasty, protein packed pick me up either in a sandwhich, on toast, or as a full fry up. But you don't necessarily need a frying pan and a load of oily mess to make the perfect fried egg. In fact, you can fry an egg in the microwave in less than a minute.
It's lower calorie, as you need much less oil, and there's no smoke and crispy burnt bits everywhere, so it's easier, quicker, healthier and just as tasty as making fried eggs with a frying pan in the traditional way. ” To make microwave fried eggs, spray or rub a little oil on a dish or deep plate. Then, crack an egg into the dish. Take a knife and gently pierce the yolk (not enough to actually break it - but this prevents it exploding later), then pop it into the microwave on high for 30 seconds.
Leave it to stand for one minute, then check the egg. If you like it more well done, you can add more 10 second increments to cook it a little more. Then simply serve onto toast, bread or whatever you fancy - fuss-free.
