The Michelin Guide has announced 15 additions to its California restaurant selection, seven of which are in L.A. The new restaurants now have a chance earn Bib Gourmand status for affordable dining, or even a star or two when the Michelin Awards for California are announced in August.

New to Michelin's list Bar Etoile is a cozy spot in the ultra-hip Melrose Hill neighborhood. It offers French-inspired California cuisine and an equally impressive wine list from Chef Travis Hayden. Kusano is an eight-seat counter omakase spot in a strip mall in Culver City, offering an impressive 18-course omakase for $150.

This might sound pricey, but it is quite the deal for high-quality sushi in an intimate setting. Mori Nozomi in Sawtelle is overseen by chef Nozomi Mori. It specializes in edomae-style sushi with seasonal produce, including a five-course tea pairing that features imported Japanese ice.

Rasarumah is the recently opened Malaysian restaurant in Historic Filipinotown, overseen by hometown hero Chef Johnny Lee in partnership with Last Word Hospitality restaurant group (Barra Santos, Found Oyster). The restaurant has been turning heads with its soulful takes on classic Malay dishes. Restaurant Ki , in Little Tokyo, is headed by Chef Ki Kim, who previously cut his teeth at Jordan Kahn’s Meteora.

The 14-course tasting menu restaurant is a perfect candidate for Michelin recognition. Remember to save room for the mushroom ice cream sandwich. Seline is a new restaurant in Santa Monica from Chef Dave Beran, just a five-minute walk from Pasjoli, his acclaimed French eatery, which was recently named a semi-finalist for the James Beard Awards for Outstanding Restaurant.

Seline's 15- to 18-course tasting menu is designed to dazzle diners. Tomat is the London-inspired, LAX-adjacent Westchester restaurant owned by husband and wife duo Harry Posner and Natalie Dial. Their menu features coffee and pastries during the day but later turns up the heat for dining.
