Many other high-volume stores, such as Costco, Sam’s Club, and Target, will also be closed to observe the holiday.Shoppers looking to buy Easter decorations and supplies should take note, as brick-and-mortar retail options will be slim come Easter Sunday.However, those hoping for last-minute Easter product aren’t entirely out of options.
The Home Depot is one of a few chains that will remain open for the holiday.The retail hardware and home improvement store will, however, be closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas.Michaels currently operates over 1,252 stores across the US and Canada.
California is home to the highest number of Michaels stores, with 137 locations as of May 2024, according to ScrapeHero.Texas was second with 99, followed by Florida with 90.The Home Depot has around 2,012 locations in the US.
California – the most populous state – also contains the highest number of The Home Depot stores, with 233 as of March 2025.Texas and Florida operate 187 and 161 stores, respectively.EASTER CLOSURESIn 2024, JCPenney, Kohl’s, and Target all closed for Easter Sunday, along with Macy’s, Michaels, and Marshalls.
However, not all stores were closed for the spring holiday.Meanwhile, some stores – including Walmart, Trader Joe’s, and Kroger – stayed open during normal business hours.RETAIL SHUT DOWNHundreds of JCPenney stores will be shuttered for 24 hours, forcing shoppers to look elsewhere.
A spokesperson for the department store chain told The U.S. Sun that all locations will be closed to observe Easter.
The company has over 650 locations across the country.TJ Maxx is also among the major national retailers set to close in the coming weeks.The Massachusetts-based discount department store chain operates over 1,000 locations in the US.
