September 19, 1965 - October 17, 2024 Michael Dean Miller, aged 59, of Philomath, Oregon, passed away on October 17th, 2024 from pancreatic cancer. Born on September 19, 1965, Michael graduated from Rogue River High School and furthered his education at the University of Oregon before completing his studies at Oregon State University with degrees in both Engineering and Physics. Michael honorably served in the US Navy for six years, a period during which he demonstrated his commitment and dedication to his country.
Following his military service, he embarked on a distinguished career that spanned nearly three decades, starting at Oregon State University on the AP600 Project in 1994. He later joined Hewlett Packard, where he contributed significantly from 1994 until 2010, before moving to NuScale Power, where he worked until 2023. When anyone was in need, Mike would show up and be there, ready to help.
Mike was known to always do the right thing, and his loved ones depended on him for advice when things got difficult. His hobbies included hiking, hunting, and traveling, activities that reflected his love for adventure and the great outdoors. Michael is survived by his wife, Lisa; daughter, Alexandria; son, Sonnie; brothers, Harold and Denny; and father, Larry.
The extended family and friends he impacted are just too numerous to name. A service to celebrate Michael's life will be held at McHenry Funeral Home in Corvallis. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Knight Cancer Institute in Portland, Oregon.
