MIA announces ‘From Morocco to Qatar’ community event

Qatar tribune Tribune News Network Doha The Hour and Hour programme, in collaboration with the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA), announced details of an upcoming cultural community celebration scheduled for November 22. The event is part of the Qatar-Morocco 2024 Year of Culture (YoC) initiative. Titled ‘From Morocco to Qatar: Sailing Through Heritage’, the cultural evening aims to highlight Moroccan cultural heritage and its connections with Qatari traditions and heritage through an immersive programme of music, art, poetry and engaging discussions.

It will be held at the Atrium from 3pm to 7pm. ‘From Morocco to Qatar’ will feature a diverse array of performances and activities, including a duet by Qatari musician Ahmed Abdulrahim and Moroccan artist Abdul Hafeez Al-Hajjaji. Students from Al Khor Model School for Boys (Qatar) and the Charlemagne International School (Morocco) will perform their respective national anthems, while Mustafa Lachgar will deliver a recitation from the Holy Quran.



The event will also include poetry readings by Qatari poet Moza bint Abdulrahman Al-Misnad and Moroccan poet Amal Yahyaoui, along with a theatrical performance on the principles of hospitality, presented by Qatari and Moroccan students. The evening will feature a variety of activities suitable for visitors of all ages. Highlights include Moroccan and Qatari photobooths with antique cameras provided by Kamal Naji and Lucille Studios, as well as traditional refreshments such as Qatari coffee and Moroccan tea, hosted by Abdulaziz Al-Bohashim Museum and Hajar.

Guests can enjoy Moroccan sweets and traditional cuisine prepared by Um Fatima Al-Zahra and Marrakech Restaurant. Artistic showcases will include paintings by Hassan Boujassoum and Warda Shakht, alongside Arabic calligraphy demonstrations by Ibrahim Ali and Mustafa Lachgar. Visitors can also explore displays of traditional Moroccan and Qatari attire designed by Elham Al-Ansari and Afaf Ben Al-Sayegh.
