As Mumbai Indians prepare to take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Wankhede Stadium, all eyes are on Jasprit Bumrah's availability. Bumrah joined MI camp over the weekend.

Jasprit Bumrah returned to the Mumbi Indians (MI) on Saturday and was welcomed back to the team with a special video that involved his wife Sanjana Ganesan and son Angad. However, will he be available to play Monday’s match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)? Bumrah had been out of action since early January due to the back injury he suffered in the Sydney Test against Australia. He was forced to miss the Champions Trophy 2025 win in Dubai due to the injury layoff.

The good news is that Mumbai Indians coach Mahela Jayawardene has confirmed that Bumrah is available for the MI vs RCB IPL 2025 match at the Wankhede Stadium . “He’s available, he’s training today, and should be available [for the RCB game],” Jayawardene said on the eve of the match. “He arrived last night, he had his sessions with NCA [National Cricket Academy, now Centre of Excellence] to finalise that, he’s been handed over to our physios.

He’s bowling today, so all good.” Bumrah was also seen bowling in the nets on Sunday under the guidance of bowling coach and guru Lasith Malinga. He operated in the nets alongside Trent Boult, Mitchell Santner and Karn Sharma.

“Boom’s coming back from a pretty decent layoff, so we need to give him that space,” Jayawardene had said. “Not expect too much. Knowing Jasprit he will be up for it.

We’re very happy to have him in the camp, the experience he brings, that extra voice out there in the middle, chatting with Boulty [Trent Boult], chatting with Deepak [Chahar] or any other younger bowler, giving that advice is also very valuable for us. That’s what we’re looking forward to from him.” Bumrah’s return to MI is a big boost for the team which is currently struggling for positive results in IPL 2025.

Mumbai Indians have lost three out of four matches and their only win came at home against defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders. MI’s Indian bowling line-up has been lacking experience in Bumrah’s absence and they have been forced to use Vignesh Puthur, Ashwani Kumar and Satyanarayana Raju. Bumrah took 20 wickets in IPL 2024 and was MI’s highest wicket-taker.
