Meta joined the club of smart glass manufacturers by launching the Meta Ray-Ban glasses in September 2023. Meta collaborated with EssilorLuxottica to manufacture the Ray-Ban smart glasses. EssilorLuxottica recently held an earnings call for the fourth quarter of 2024 and revealed that Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses have sold 2 million units so far .

Given the popularity of the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, the manufacturer is planning to boost its annual production capacity. EssilorLuxottica has described the Meta smart glasses as “a great success” with 2 million units sold so far EssilorLuxottica CEO Francesco Milleri revealed the information regarding the sales of the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses during the company’s Q4 2024 earnings call earlier this week . He has described the smart glasses by the Facebook parent as “a great success”.



Also, Milleri told the investors that the retention of these smart glasses has been increasing over time too. EssilorLuxottica is now planning to vastly expand the production capacity of the Ray-Ban Meta glasses to more than 10 million units a year by the end of 2026. Meta is aggressively marketing its smart glasses.

It enlisted A-list celebrities for two Super Bowl advertisements promoting the product. The brand hopes that the heavy marketing will boost the sales of the smart glasses through the rest of this year. It has also hired the former CEO of luxury goods website The RealReal as its new VP of retail for wearable devices.
