Met Office records warmest day of the year in Suffolk

Suffolk has now had the warmest day of the year, according to the Met Office.

After experiencing the sunniest March record, Suffolk has now had the warmest day of the year. The Met Office confirmed the statistic nationwide as Santon Downham, near Thetford saw a high of 21.7C on Friday.

Suffolk ranked the hottest in East Anglia, as meteorologists said the weather has hit its peak for the month. A spokeswoman for the Met Office said: "Although we've had sunshine, which is promising, the temperatures from Saturday are trending down. "Saturday it will be around 17C at the highest and Sunday it will be 15C maximum.



"We can expect very similar at the beginning of next week but the winds will be lighter making it a bit more pleasant." Suffolk recorded its sunniest March in more than 110 years of history, according to meteorologists. The Met Office then further confirmed that records were broken in other conditions, making March one of the driest, warmest and sunniest months since 1929.
