A yellow weather warning for snow and ice has been issued for parts of Wales, the Met Office has confirmed. With the weather turning colder in recent days many forecasters have predicted that temperatures will drop further this coming week. The Met Office published maps on Saturday which showed where and when it is most likely to snow, with many parts of south, mid and north Wales affected.

The warning also extends into the north of England, with parts of the Midlands, Manchester, Sheffield and Newcastle all covered by the warning, which will be in place between 7pm on Monday and 10am on Tuesday. According to the Met Office: “A period of rain, sleet and snow will occur during Monday evening, overnight into Tuesday morning. The most likely scenario is for most of the snow to accumulate on hills, with 5 to 10 cm possible above 200 metres and perhaps as much as 15 to 20 cm above 300 metres.
There is a small chance of snow settling at lower levels, where 5 to 10 cm would prove much more disruptive, but this remains very uncertain. As rain, sleet and snow clear on Tuesday morning, ice may form on untreated surfaces.” While the weather warning only covers parts of north Wales, the whole of the country is expected to feel the chill this coming week.
According to Simon King, the lead weather presenter at the BBC : “We’ll feel the first taste of winter weather over the coming days as chilly Arctic air spreads across the United Kingdom. "Snow and ice warnings have been issued by the Met Office for late Sunday through to Tuesday. Northern areas and higher ground will be most at risk for potentially disruptive snow.
Temperatures will be below the November average by Sunday with frosts expected through the coming week.” Join our WhatsApp news community here for the latest breaking news. Keep up to date with the latest weather where you live:.
