Met Eireann update triple warning for 12 counties as 24-hour Easter rain blast to ‘just keep coming’ amid flood fear

A TOTAL of 12 counties are under a Status Yellow rainfall warning this morning as weather bosses warn heavy rain will “just keep coming”.Met Eireann have warned of flooding and “fairly difficult travelling conditions” as that heavy rain pelts Ireland.MeteologixHeavy rain is expected over the coming hours[/caption]Met EireannMet Eireann have issued warnings for 12 counties[/caption]Met Eireann’s Rebecca Cantwell said: “If you’re out during the period please take extra care.

“Especially if you are in one of the counties that fall under a yellow rainfall warning.”Carlow, Dublin, Kilkenny, Louth, Wexford, Wicklow and Waterford have been under a Status Yellow Warning since 6am this morning. And that rainfall alert will remain in place until 6am tomorrow morning.



A Status Yellow rainfall warning also kicked in for Clare, Galway and Mayo at 6am this morning. That warning will remain in place for the three counties until 9pm tonight. Last night a warning came into affect for Cork and Kerry.

This kicked in at 11pm and was due to lift at 12pm today but weather bosses have extended the alert until 9pm tonight.The overarching warning from Met Eireann is there will be “spells of rain, heavy at times” and “localised flooding”. Alan O’Reilly of Carlow Weather warned there is “a very wet Friday ahead”.

And gauging rainfall amounts on social media he added: “Over 50mm possible on high ground in East and Southeast.”As that heavy rain falls today temperatures will sit between 8C to 12C. It will also be breezy in moderate to fresh easterly winds, strong near coasts.

Very little let up tonight as rain continues throughout the night.Met Eireann’s Rebecca Cantwell said: “Tonight the rain just keeps coming.“It will turn heavy at times and is likely to cause localised flooding as a result.

”Winds will ease slightly in 6C to 10C temperatures, coolest in the northwest. EASTER OUTLOOKA “dull and damp start” to tomorrow as the last of those weather warnings lift. As the morning goes on rain will become lighter and patchier as it begins to clear northwestwards.

And Met Eireann added: “Drier conditions will develop for most areas through the day, although it will remain quite cloudy.”Temperatures on Saturday to sit between 8C to 13C with just light wind.Overnight then, it will be mostly dry aside from some light rainy outbreaks in 6C to 9C temperatures.

The west will see this rain and drizzle to start but it will eventually clear.SUNSHINE & MORE RAINAnd for Easter Sunday Met Eireann said: “There is some uncertainty in the forecast for Easter Sunday, but current indications suggest outbreaks of light rain will clear eastwards in the morning followed by occasional sunny spells and some well scattered showers. “Cloudy conditions look to build from the west in the afternoon with rain following.

“Highest temperatures of 11C to 15C in a light to moderate southerly breeze.”The weather is set to continued “generally unsettled” into next week. There will be some sunshine and clear spells throughout Monday and Monday night, but showers and some breezes will continue.
