Meryl Streep and Martin Short have delighted fans as they were seen sitting together at the 76th Annual Emmy Awards . The pair arrived separately for the annual awards ceremony, which saw Meryl Streep nominated for a Supporting Actress nomination and Martin Short nominated for Lead Actor. Yet despite not appearing to be a couple, fans have continued to gossip about whether the pair could secretly be dating.
75-year-old actress Streep revealed last October that she'd been separated from husband Don Gummer for more than six years, and rumours have been steadily growing about her closeness to Short. The duo, who also star in Only Murders in the Building together on Hulu, have had fans gossiping after the pair were pictured sat next together at the awards and looking cosy. Writing on Twitter, fans could not get over the two acting icons together at this year’s Emmy Awards .

Martin Short recently opened up about his bond with Streep in an interview with Extra, saying: "I think it's been a friendship that always grows if you work with someone and love that person." The duo was most recently spotted holding hands and posing together at the show's premiere on August 22, leaving fans wondering if there’s more to this friendship than meets the eye. The pair's romance has been one the hotly discussed topics of this year's Emmy Awards, which was hosted by Schitt's Creek actors Dan and Eugene Levy.
The father and son duo have not only won over fans for their on-screen characters but for their comedic family bond off camera too. Schitt’s Creek previously won an Emmy Award in 2020, with the pair then chosen to lead the ceremony for the 76th ceremony. Having worked together for five years during their time on the award winning Schitt’s Creek, fans of the pair have often called to see more of Eugene and Dan together.
