North Carolina's David Ford won his fifth tournament of the season to tie the all-time record for most wins by a Tar Heel and lead UNC to a one-shot win in the Tar Heel Intercollegiate Sunday at Finley Golf Club. Ford shot 72-64-67 for a 7-under 203 total to win by four strokes over Elon's Jack Wieler, who shot a final-round 66 for a 3-under 207. Ford won his previous two starts in the Valspar Collegiate Invitational and the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational to become the first Tar Heel ever to win three consecutive tournaments.
He is also the only player in men's college golf to win five times this season. He ties Dustin Bray for the UNC career record with seven titles. Bray won twice in 2001-02, three times in 2002-03 and two more in 2003-04.
Ford won one tournament as a sophomore in 2022-23, one as a junior in 2023-24 and five times as a senior. Carolina won for the second time this season and the 24 th in the last eight seasons under head coach Andrew DiBitetto . It marks the sixth straight season the Tar Heels have won multiple times.
UNC trailed Kennesaw State by four strokes entering Sunday's final round. The Tar Heels passed the Owls mid-round but were nearly caught down the stretch by Elon, which shot the low round of the day with an 8-under 272. Ford's 67 and Keaton Vo's 68 led Carolina to the victory.
Vo shot 68-75-68 to tie for 10 th place at 1-over 211. Freshmen Sihan Sandhu (68-72-73) tied for 17 th at 3-over 213 and Grant Roscich (72-73-70) tied for 22 nd at 5-over 215. Maxwell Ford competed as an individual entry and tied for third with rounds of 71-69-68 for 2-under 208.
Seven players in the field of 80 shot below par over the three rounds. Carolina finished 1-under 839, Elon was second at even par, Kennesaw State was third at 1 over, Michigan State was fourth (+14) and Duke placed fifth (+15). Next up for the Tar Heels is the ACC Tournament April 24-28 in Bowling Green, Ky.
