WILLMAR — A short bench was no detriment for Concordia JV on Monday night. Despite the Ridgewater men’s basketball team erasing the Cobbers’ six-point halftime lead, Concordia JV hunkered down late to hand the Warriors a 111-99 loss, their first of the season. Led by Luke Christensen, all seven of the Cobbers’ players scored in the double figures.
The 6-foot-10 freshman from Hillcrest Lutheran Academy scored a game-high 23 points on 8 of 16 shooting from the field and 5 of 7 free throws. He added seven rebounds, three blocks and three assists. Grady Guida filled up the stat sheet for Concordia JV.
The freshman guard from Buffalo nearly had a triple-double with 19 points and team-bests of 10 rebounds and seven assists. Mason Gravseth controlled the game’s boards with a high of 15. The senior forward from Grand Forks, North Dakota secured a double-double adding 12 points, the fewest of any Cobber.
DeAndre Holloway shined on both ends of the floor for Ridgewater. The freshman forward from Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg High School scored 20 points on 9 of 13 shooting. With his long, 6-7 frame, Holloway snatched nine rebounds, seven on the defensive end, along with five blocks and a pair of steals.
He has posted two straight games of at least 20 points scored and five blocks. Tyrese Mayo, a freshman guard from Winter Haven, Florida, reached the 20-point marker for the first time with the Warriors. He scored 20 points on 8 of 15 shooting, making 1 of 2 free throws, and dished out seven assists.
Aiden Wichmann (15), Connor Whittet (13) and Michael Henderson (10) were also in the double figures for Ridgewater. Wichmann, a sophomore guard from Russell-Tyler-Ruthton High School, piled up a team-high eight assists. The Warriors host Central Lakes College of Brainerd for their first Minnesota College Athletic Conference game of the season at 7 p.
