Memphis football starting offensive lineman Xavier Hill plans to enter the transfer portal.

Memphis football starting offensive lineman Xavier Hill plans to enter the transfer portal, a source confirmed to The Commercial Appeal on Tuesday.The source was granted anonymity because no announcement has been made.The transfer portal opens April 16 and closes on April 25.

Hill was named first team All-AAC as an offensive lineman last season. He started his career at LSU before transferring to Memphis before the 2023 season and has been a two-year starter for the Tigers.He stood out for his versatility during his time with the Tigers, starting at multiple positions and moving from guard to tackle on multiple occasions.



Offensive line coach Jeff Myers has said that Hill's ideal position is on the interior, but he finished last season at right tackle.Hill has one season of eligibility remaining.His departure will open up a starting spot on the offensive line.

Returning guard Malachi Breland is out for the spring with a shoulder injury, but he'll be a likely candidate to start at guard. Left tackle Chris Adams is the only other returning starter on the offensive line heading into the 2025 season. Memphis will hold its spring game on April 26.
