Members of the Performance Institute set new records at state championship

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) -Competitors for the Performance Institute set new records at the 2025 Georgia State Championships on April 5th in Atlanta. The state championship was held in conjunction with the 2025 USAW Masters Nationals Championships. PI Champions accumulated:

PI Champions accumulated:5 Georgia State Championship titles3 Georgia State Records3 lifters went 6 for 615 Gold Medals/ 2 Silver & 1 Bronze2 Master lifters who originally began with PI 20 years ago competed in their first Masters Nationals.Imani Washington (13U/+64kg) 2025 Georgia State Champion Snatched 40kg, clean & Jerking 50kg and again in the total with 90kg. Sweeping GOLD! Imani will be competition in the 2025 USA Weightlifting Youth Nationals in Colorado Springs, CO June 22-7th.



Gabriella Holmes, age 12, went 6 for 6, snatching 15kg, clean & jerking 25kg totaling 40kg to sweep GOLD and win the 2025 Georgia State Champion 13U/64kg division. Ahmad Minor, age 17, went 6 for 6 for a flawless performance. Lifting personal records (PRs) of an 85kg snatch and 111kg clean & jerk.

Lifting a 196kg total. Minor clinched the 2025 Georgia State Championship title in the 16-17/102kg divisionNa’Erykah Goodwin (23U/87kg) went 5 for 6 sweeping GOLD and wining the 2025 Georgia State Championship title 23U/87kg division. Goodwin snatched 74kg, clean and jerked 100kg totaling 174kg.

Goodwin is a criminal justice graduate of Brewton Parker College. Goodwin has been a PI Champion since the age of 10. Currently she serves as an AmeriCorps VISTA as she prepares to attend law school.

Alonzo Richardson, Jr. made is debut in the Georgia State Championships earning his first title and gold medals! Alonzo, age 14, snatched 45kg, clean and jerked 55kg, totaling 100kg to become your 2025 Georgia State Champion in the Men’s 14-15/+89kg DivisionPI Champion, Hunter Simmons, age 10, competed on his first national stage earning SILVER in the 2025 Georgia State Championships. Simmons competed in the 13U/55kg division, snatching 12kg, clean and jerking 20kg, totaling 32kg and earning 2nd place.

Simmons attends Shuman Elementary.PI Champion, Alice Kohler Agnew (35-39/76kg) returned to the stage in her first Masters Nationals Championships with an outstanding 6 for 6 performance!!! Snatching 57kg (6th), clean and jerking 68kg(9th) for a PR total of 125kg (7th). Agnew currently serves as a Children’s Services Outreach SpecialistPI Champion, John Erwin (40-44/81kg) medaled in his first Masters Nationals Championships Nationals Championships.

Snatching 93kg, Clean and Jerking 134kg. Totaling 234kg. Erwin joined PI Champions while attending Georgia Southern University.
