MONTEZUMA - Mellony A. Carner, 77 of Montezuma, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Thursday April 3, 2025 with her son and daughter-in-law by her side. She was born in Auburn to the late Paul and Helen Lauckarn.
She graduated from Port Byron High School, Class of 1965. Mellony retired from the US Postal Service in Port Byron after 32 years of service. She enjoyed helping others and volunteered a lot of her time at various places, including, the Merry Go Round Theater, Montezuma Historical Society, Old Erie Canal Heritage Park, and the Port Byron Alumni Association.
Mellony also liked to travel and spend time with her family and friends. She is survived by her two children, son Paul (Rhonda) Carner, daughter Annett (Edward) Darrow; three grandchildren, Nolan Carner, Morgan Darrow, and Nicole Darrow; two sisters, Sharon (David) Morse, and Ann Maglia; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and her dearest friend Shirley Gillmore. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband Horace, and sister Nancy Hosmer.
Calling hours will be held Friday April 11th from 4 PM to 7 PM at the Pettigrass Funeral Home 196 Genesee St. Auburn. Friends and relatives are invited to join the family on Saturday April 12th at 11:00 AM for her services at the Port Byron United Methodist Church.
