BigginScott Daylesford director Michael DeVincentis sold the property to the couple, describing it as “private without being isolated”.Originally built in 2016, the architect-designed residence is on approximately 20 acres and includes a sweeping deck, full-height curved windows, open-plan living zones and panoramic bushland views. The home’s architectural design and curved deck immerse guests in bushland surrounds, just minutes from Daylesford.

Concept image of how the outdoor bath and fire pit are expected to look — part of the couple’s vision to transform the 20-acre property into a luxury short-stay escape. The Gills, who work in construction and hospitality, plan to upgrade the outdoor spaces ahead of relaunching the home as a holiday rental. They intend to build a custom fire pit, install a rainfall-style outdoor shower, an outdoor bath and improve landscaping around the dome.

“It’s going to be an Airbnb, but also a personal escape,” Mr Gill said. “Somewhere peaceful to unwind.”Floor-to-ceiling glass frames uninterrupted bushland views, with kangaroos, wallabies and wombats often spotted just beyond the deck.

A glowing geodesic dome on the property is already a hit with Airbnb guests and will be enhanced with outdoor upgrades. The couple were drawn to the property’s mix of seclusion, design potential and income flexibility, with the eco-lodge comprising a timber-clad cabin and fully fitted dome tent offering separate guest access.Mr Gill said he first noticed the listing while exploring the region and was shown through by Mr DeVincentis the same day.

“We’ve already furnished the place,” he said. “The fire pit’s being built, and internet gets connected tomorrow.”One of two modern bathrooms inside the main residence, featuring timber cabinetry, stone benchtops and sleek, minimalist finishes.

Mr DeVincentis said most interest came from tree-change buyers or holiday home hunters, with the eco-lodge component appealing to those seeking a dual-use property.“You’re in your own little world out here (in Musk),” he said. “You’ve got wineries, native wildlife, and a subalpine climate — not many realise Musk sits 650 metres above sea level, about the same as Mt Dandenong.

”The main home features timber floors, stone kitchen benchtops, a cosy woodfire, and three bedrooms, including a master with sweeping forest views. The Gills expect to relaunch the revamped retreat for guests soon.“It’s peaceful, it’s different — and it’s always been a bit of a dream of mine to own something like this,” Mr Gill said.
