54 Church St, Werribee, has new owners after a weekend auction.A pair of first-home buyers snapped up 1920s-built house in Melbourne’s western suburbs for $1.255m on the weekend.
HockingStuart’s Samantha McCarthy said the Werribee three-bedroom pad’s owners had updated the home, but not covered over its history.“It was an amazing home with so much attention to detail, in keeping with the original Victorian-era charm,” Ms McCarthy said.RELATED: How a surprise buyer snapped up this Werribee home for $517,000Werribee auction proves why buyers are rushing to Melbourne’s booming westMelbourne’s unlikely millionaire’s rows: Melton, Werribee, Craigieburn’s rich pockets (function(videojs) {var videoId = "6370169377112-54";var video = videojs(videoId);var globalId = "iris_6370169377112_54";video.

235m bid.“We felt that passing it in would get the best result for the clients and all the hard work they had put into the house,” Ms McCarthy said. And sure enough, a negotiation with the highest bidders resulted in a sale.
“The owners were really stoked with the result,” Ms McCarthy said.About 70 groups including families and downsizers looked through the residence prior to auction day.An outdoor entertainers’ area made a big impression on prospective buyers.
Open-plan living spaces give the home modern flair, despite its age.But it was the first-home buyers who emerged as the successful purchasers.“They are local buyers, they have worked hard, saved hard and lived at home,” Ms McCarthy said.
“Now they have secured one of the most incredible houses that I am sure they will love it and make it a home for years to come.”Buyers loved the update and the fact they could move in without needing to do any additional work, she added. The location less than 1km from Werribee’s main thoroughfare, Watton St – along with its eateries and shops – was another bonus.
The house is set on 778sq m.An open-plan meals and living area is accompanied by a kitchen equipped with a 900mm Smeg cooktop and oven, Miele dishwasher, stone bench tops and plenty of bench and cupboard space. The main bedroom features an ensuite and a large dressing room.
An outdoor fireplace, pergola and fenced front yard complete the package, set on a 778sq m land block.18 Sundowner Place, Sanctuary Lakes, also went under the hammer on the weekend. Not far from Werribee, a four-bedroom house in Point Cook also went to auction on Saturday.
The 18 Sundowner Place address fetched $910,000, after being advertised with a $800,000-$880,000 asking range.Ray White Point Cook’s managing director Amar Thakkar said that four bidders contested the auction for the abode that’s located within the Sanctuary Lakes estate. “The buyers are locals, they are owner-occupiers who had moved from overseas and they had been looking to buy for a while with us,” Mr Thakkar said.
“We had about 20 people watching on, plus the neighbours all came out.”Sign up to the Herald Sun Weekly Real Estate Update. Click here to get the latest Victorian property market news delivered direct to your inbox.
