Melanie Lynskey and Jason Ritter support each other's projects at all costs — even if it means having their watching experience ruined by spoilers. The actress, 47, told PEOPLE at PaleyFest for Poker Face on Saturday, March 29, that she and her husband, 45, approach watching one another's projects very differently, much to her chagrin. Lynskey currently stars as Shauna in Showtime's Yellowjackets , which follows a group of high school soccer players who survive a plane crash and how their lives play out 25 years later.
Meanwhile, Ritter portrays Julian in the reboot of Matlock , which follows Kathy Bates ’ character, Madeline Matlock, who rejoins the law workforce as a senior. "I don't want to hear any spoilers, I hate it," Lynskey, who makes a guest appearance in Poker Face ’s second season, explained of watching Ritter's work. "I'll remember.
I'll be watching the show like, 'Oh, I know this is going to happen.' It drives me crazy." Related: Melanie Lynskey Says Husband Jason Ritter Is 'Genuinely Sacrificing' Roles for Her Career Success (Exclusive) However, Ritter's approach to watching Lynskey's work is quite different.
"He can hear every spoiler and forget it, and then just watch the show and still be like, 'Oh my God.' And I'm like, 'How are you surprised? You asked me to tell you the whole plot and now it's happening,' " Lynskey recalled. According to the actress, Ritter is not unique in the way he watches television.
"He's funny, his whole family is like that though," she says. "They'll tell each other the entire plot of a movie and then they'll be like, 'Oh, we can't wait to see that.' "We try to make it so that one of us is always going to be at home with her, because now she's at school and she can't travel.
