In line with the tradition that it set with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, for the draft rules of the legislation, has opted for the pronouns 'she' and 'her' instead of the male-centric 'he' and 'him' that is used in most legal drafting. In 2022, when the DPDP Act was first introduced as a bill, it became the first legislation to use she/her pronouns for all genders. The draft rules which were released for consultation on January 3 , are expected to provide more clarity on various provisions of the Act.
