Former Fox News commentator Megyn Kelly went off on X over the critically acclaimed film Conclave, calling it 'disgusting' and 'anti-Catholic.' Just hours before the Golden Globe Awards kicked off , the conservative pundit took to X to express her disapproval of the film, which is nominated in 6 categories tonight . In the spoiler-heavy rant, Megyn wrote: "Just made the huge mistake of watching the much-celebrated 'Conclave' & it is the most disgusting anti-Catholic film I have seen in a long time.
Shame on Ralph Fiennes, Stanley Tucci & John Lithgow for starring in it & shame on director Edward Berger (among others)." Ralph Fiennes recreates very demure monologue leaving Anderson Cooper in tears Caitlin Clark shows her true colors in response to Megyn Kelly's 'white apology' criticism Conclave is a mystery thriller, starring Ralph Fiennes, Stanley Tucci, John Lithgow, and Isabella Rossellini that follows a group of Catholic religious leaders as they select the next pope. The film is nominated for six Golden Globe Awards including Original Score, Screenplay of a Motion Picture, and Drama Motion Picture.
Ralph Fiennes is nominated for Actor in a Drama Motion Picture and Isabella Rossellini for Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture, while Edward Berger is up for Director of a Motion Picture. The 54-year-old television personality slammed the movie in a lengthy X (formerly Twitter) post, giving away the twist ending. Megyn wrote: "I wish I had known so I wouldn’t have watched it.
There are almost no redeeming characters in the movie - every cardinal is morally bankrupt/repulsive. The only exception of course is the intersex pope (who - surprise! - has female reproductive parts) & the cardinal who keeps her secret - bc of course that kind of Catholic secret-keeping must be lionized." She went on to say: "I’m disgusted.
What a thing to release to streaming just in time for Christmas. They would never do this to Muslims, but Christians/Catholics are always fair game to mock/belittle/smear." Some users replied to the explosive post agreeing with Megyn, with some referring to the film as "trans propaganda" and others questioning why the Pope himself has not condemned the film.
Several people responded to the rant with a reminder that "it is just a movie" and not, in fact, real life.
