The Mega Millions jackpot for Friday’s lottery drawing has increased to an estimated $695 million , with a cash option of $322 million. The drawing will be held at 10:59 p.m.
and televised on WABC-7 in New York City and Fox 29 in Philadelphia. NJ.com will publish the winning numbers immediately following the conclusion of the drawing.
If someone wins, it would be the 19th largest jackpot prize in U.S. lottery history and the eighth biggest Mega Millions prize since the multi-state lottery game began.
The Mega Millions jackpot hasn’t been won since a ticket worth $800 million was bought in Sugar Land, Texas, for the Sept. 10 drawing. The jackpot has been hit only three times this year.
A pair of third-prize tickets matching four numbers plus the Mega Ball were sold in New Jersey for Tuesday’s drawing. A ticket bought by a player using the Jackpocket app is worth $50,000 because the winner spent an extra $1 for the Megaplier option. A $10,000 ticket was sold in Somerset County at QuickChek on Easton Avenue in Franklin Township, lottery officials said.
A second-prize ticket sold in Florida for Tuesday’s drawing is worth $5 million because it was purchased with the Megaplier option. A $1 million ticket was bought in Maryland, while two tickets valued at $560,601 were purchased in California. California lottery prizes vary depending on ticket sales and number of winners.
They differ from the fixed second prizes offered in other participating states. Second-prize tickets match the main batch of five numbers but not the Mega Ball number. Tuesday’s winning numbers were: 12, 14, 26, 48 and 52 .
The Mega ball drawn was 21 with a Megaplier of 5x . Players have a 1 in 12,607,306 chance of a ticket matching five numbers but not the Mega Ball and winning at least $1 million. The odds of matching four numbers plus the Mega Ball for a prize of at least $10,000 are 931,001 to 1.
Mega Millions drawings are held each Tuesday and Friday in 45 states, along with Washington, D.C., and the U.
S. Virgin Islands. Saturday’s Powerball jackpot is worth an estimated $45 million, with a cash option of $21 million.
