Who isn’t always sneakily wishing they could have a new furry friend - especially when there are so many adorable animals hoping for a new human pal too. If you think there might be room in your life for some extra cuteness and companionship, you need look no further than Raystede, an animal rescue centre in Ringmer, which has been rehoming and rehabilitating creatures of all kinds since 1952. Here are five Raystede residents looking for their forever home.
Tigger (Image: Raystede) An eleven-year-old Beagle-Foxhound mix, Tigger is an energetic girl with a fitting name for her personality. Raystede describes her as "exuberant and active", and she can be strong on a lead, so she will need a home that can give her the exercise she craves while managing to keep hold of her. She would love her own secure garden to play in and is used to plenty of company.
She is also currently undergoing vet care for her joints and weight loss, which adopters should continue, but gradual increases in exercise will go a long way. Tigger is a people-lover but is not used to excitable young children. However, she may be able to live with sensible teenagers, as well as dogs of a similar age.
She is not suitable to live with cats, birds, or small animals. Felix (Image: Raystede) Next up, we have cats Felix and Fliss, an eight-year-old and three-year-old brother and sister. The duo joined Raystede after their previous owner suffered ill health.
The siblings are both a little shy and can take some time to get used to new environments but they are very loving once they get to know you. Fliss loves to roll around asking for more attention and Felix is partial to a chin scratch. If scared or stressed, Fliss may hiss and growl but she is never aggressive, Raystede said.
Fliss (Image: Raystede) The cats are slightly nervous by nature, so could live with older children or teens but would prefer not to be handled by children. Felix and Fliss love spending time outside but will mostly stay in their own gardens. Fliss is an occasional hunter, so you may receive a few presents from time to time.
They must be adopted together and would like to be the only pets in their new home. Buno (Image: Raystede) Also looking for a new home is Buno. Buno is a sweet five-year-old Harlequin rabbit, who has been slowly gaining confidence during his time at Raystede.
He is looking for an indoor home with plenty of space and lots of stimulation. He is a tidy bunny and is learning to use his litter tray. Buno has never lived with another rabbit but is excited to try.
His ideal home would have another rabbit already, so that Buno can bond with them and grow in confidence even more. He can live with older teens or adults but must not be handled by visiting children in the home. He does have a health condition but he has been checked by Raystede’s vet and is now ready to find his forever home.
Bonnie (Image: Raystede) Finally, we have Bonnie, an eleven-year-old Welsh section pony. Bonnie is a happy, friendly pony looking for a home as a non-ridden companion. She is a social girl, happiest living 24/7 with her friends, and loves to play in the field.
She also loves to zoom around and sleep in the field but prioritises food above all else. Bonnie has been under vet care due to arthritis in her hocks and recently had them medicated. This will need to be repeated approximately every 12 to 18 months depending on her comfort levels.
She is fully up to date with worming, dentals, farriers and vaccinations, and is excited to move to a new home. All these animals are available at the time of writing. For more information, visit Raystede's website at www.
