Meet Natalie Reed, a Junior in Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences (NRES) with a minor in Geography and GIS, and the 2024-2025 iCAP Land & Water Team clerk. For Reed, participating in the Land & Water Team is an avenue to tangibly improve the campus’s use of our land and water, and support campus sustainability efforts overall. Reed works on implementing better pest management plans, growing native plant gardens, and planting species that will support bee and butterfly populations.

She also assists with water conservation efforts across multiple campus buildings. Reed is passionate about sustainability initiatives as she believes that even small efforts can help mitigate the negative impacts of climate change. “Sustainability causes are also important because they help people engage with and grow appreciation for the environment.

” As the Land & Water clerk, Reed’s biggest hope is to support others on her team and help everyone work more efficiently together. “Many of the Land & Water Team members are incredibly versed in their field and I love supporting them as best I can, and learning from them as they complete their duties.” During her time as a clerk, Reed has also learned helpful communication and planning skills that she hopes to leverage in her future career.

In her free time, Reed enjoys planning events for the Student Sustainability Leadership Council (SSLC), a liaison between many environmental and sustainability organizations on campus. She also loves to go on runs, read books, and watch TV with her friends. Back to the Land & Water iCAP Team page >>> — Article by iSEE Communications Intern Anjali Yedavalli.
