The View Café at The Heights Hotel has officially revolutionised the local dining scene with the introduction of an ultramodern robot server called Bella. The innovative addition marks a significant leap forward in café technology, promising to enhance both efficiency and customer enjoyment. Bella is equipped with advanced AI and navigational systems and glides effortlessly through the cafe, delivering orders with precision and speed, optimising café operations, reducing wait times and even features a 'cat-like' personality.
The cutting-edge technology works in conjunction with staff and allows them to focus on providing personalised customer service, therefore creating a harmonious blend of technology and hospitality. General manager, Michelle Teague-Forder said, "The future of service is here, with the launch of our revolutionary robot server; we're thrilled to introduce Bella to our valued customers. "Our goal is to create an enjoyable, dynamic and memorable dining experience, and Bella allows us to achieve that whilst also improving our service efficiency.
We are very pleased with how well the robot works alongside our staff. "Customer feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing excitement about the dining experience. Children, in particular, are captivated by Bella's friendly and expressive cat character and all customers can enjoy a high-tech service.
"We pride ourselves in providing quality food coupled with exceptional customer service and with the introduction of Bella, we are leading the way in innovative cafe technology." The idea of using a robot in the café, was the brainchild of deputy manager, Mike Deadman. He added; “The introduction of a robot was trialled for the February half term, to gauge people’s reactions.
"The response was phenomenal, with customers engaging at all levels. From grandparents to grandchildren, everyone has been enjoying the fun.” Mike continued; “There’s a time and a place for this technology.
The time is now and the place is Portland. "Our café is quirky, so we felt it would fit perfectly. It has already proven to be a huge hit with families, fascinated by the fact that their robot server navigates from one table to the next, around dogs, furniture and people stood chatting.
"It even has the courtesy of asking people to make way if they’re obstructing the route. It’s great fun to watch, and when Bella’s on shift, we’re proud to promote the use of her.” Mike concluded; “Bella has proven to be quite the attraction.
People have even been having selfies with Bella and she’s been only too pleased to oblige. "We’re gearing up for another busy summer, so Bella will be ready to welcome everyone for sure.” Anyone who would like to meet Bella can visit the View Café, situated at the Heights Hotel, Portland which is open daily from 0900 – 1700.
