We are talking about none other than Sushmita Sen. She was just 18 when she made history by winning Miss Universe crown (1998). The former beauty queen then ventured into acting and made a name for herself in the industry.



Sushmita Sen made her Bollywood debut with Dastak in 1996. After her forgettable debut, she was a part of several films that turned out to be a flop at box office. It was then in 1988 when she first tasted her success by a playing a supporting lead in Salman Khan starrer Biwi No 1.

After David Dhawan’s successful comedy daram, Sushmita starred in several unsuccessful films like Aaghaaz, Kyo Kii, Bas Itna Sa Khwaab Hai and more. It was in 2004, when she gave her biggest hit Main Hoon Naa. Helmed by Farah Khan, Sushmita Sen’s chemistry with Shah Rukh was widely appreciated.

In 2005, the actress starred alongside Salman Khan in Maine Pyaar Kiya. It became one of the highest-grossing films of the year. Not just her professional life, but Sushmita Sen’s personal life has also been a topic of interest for people.

In mid 2000s, the actress was allegedly in a relationship with actor Randeep Hooda. Then, there were rumours of her dating a Pakistani cricketer Wasim Akram. She was also rumoured to be linked with filmmaker Vikram Bhatt, entrepreneur Sanjay Narang, model Imtiyaz Khatri, Mumbai-based hotelier Ritik Bhasin, Sabeer Bhatia founder of Hotmail, and her manager Bunty Sachdeva.

She also dated model Rohman Shwal for 3 years, then broke up. In 2022, Sen was reportedly dating businessman and cricket administrator Lalit Modi. When she went public about her relationship with Lalit, she was called ‘gold digger’ by trolls.

At 49, Sushmita is unmarried. She is a mother of two daughters. At 24, she adopted her first daughter Renne and her second daughter, Alisha, in 2010.

After a five year long hiatus, Sushmita Sen made a comeback with Disney + Hotstar web series Aarya. Her debut in the OTT space was widely acclaimed. Moreover, the suspense drama also earned a nomination for an International Emmy Award Show.
