Medina looks to fill BZA positions

Any residents interested in city development have an opportunity to get involved. Community Planning Director Andrew Dutton announced during a recent council meeting that the city is seeking two individuals to serve on the city’s Board of Zoning Appeals.

MEDINA, Ohio – Any residents interested in city development have an opportunity to get involved. Community Planning Director Andrew Dutton announced during a recent council meeting that the city is seeking two individuals to serve on the city’s Board of Zoning Appeals. “The Board of Zoning Appeals is made up entirely of Medina city residents and the board plays a crucial role in reviewing applications for variances and zoning appeals,” he said.

“The board is essential for the city’s growth encompassing everything from downtown redevelopment to remodeling of homes and revitalization of our neighborhoods.” Dutton said that anyone interested in applying for one of these two positions should visit medinaoh.org/city-hall/planning-zoning to fill out an application form.

Application deadline is Friday, Dec. 13. Also during the meeting, council unanimously confirmed a number of mayoral appointments to various boards and commissions.

Melanie Kasten Krause and Stephanie Mueller were both appointed to the Uptown Park Advisory Board. Tony Cerny and Bruce Bauer were appointed to the Board of Building Code Appeals. Teresa Merkle and Theresa Laffey were appointed to the Cemetery Commission.

Sam Pietrangelo was appointed to the Economic Development Committee. Rebekah Knaggs was appointed to the Historic Preservation Board. Monica Russell and Robert Thompson were appointed to the planning and zoning commission.

Christopher Gates and Dave Mueller were appointed to the Utility Rate Review Commission. Council also approved the appointment of Councilor Dennie Simpson to serve as the council representative on the Board of Building Code Appeals..
