Medical checkup for Pandelela upon her return

KUALA LUMPUR: Diver Pandelela Rinong will undergo a medical assessment upon her return from Windsor, Canada, to determine the extent of her injury. The former Olympic silver and bronze medallist sustained a tricep injury during warm-up ahead of the preliminary round in the second leg of the World Cup on Thursday. She finished 20th out of 21 competitors.

Malaysia Aquatics secretary-general Andy Low said: "We have arranged for her to see a doctor for a proper diagnosis." He said it is too early to know whether Pandelela will recover in time for the national trials on May 9–11 to select the national divers for the World Championships in Singapore in July.© New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd.
