TRAVELERS can now enjoy a smarter and more interactive experience with new digital information hubs at Mactan-Cebu International Airport in Lapu-Lapu City. Julius Neri Jr., general manager of the Mactan-Cebu International Airport Authority (MCIAA), told reporters Tuesday, April 15, 2025, that virtual map kiosks will help travelers navigate the airport without asking for directions.
The newly installed kiosks aim to streamline the airport experience by making information more accessible for passengers. In a demonstration to the media Tuesday, the digital hubs showed a user-friendly interface with options for passengers to access information about shops, restaurants and services across both terminals. The directional guide provides visual representations of locations such as security checkpoints, parking entrances, the MCIAA office, and arrival and departure areas of Terminals 1 and 2.
The interactive booths display floor maps of arrival and departure areas in both terminals, showing locations of gates, security checkpoints and other facilities. Two operational virtual map kiosks have been installed in Terminal 1 and 2. The kiosks offer quick response (QR) code scanning for flight updates as part of MCIA’s initiative to streamline operations.
Passengers can scan codes with mobile devices for real-time flight information without checking display monitors. The airport is managed by MCIAA and operates under a public-private partnership with Aboitiz InfraCapital Cebu Airport Corp. and other stakeholders.
MCIA, which won the Best Airport in Asia award from the International Airports Council, continues to evolve with interactive kiosks, smart technology and improved amenities to enhance passenger experience. / DPC.
