Those at McDonald’s can finally wipe those tears away. On April 24, the Golden Arches finally announced the imminent arrival of McCrispy Strips and a new sauce to pair with them: Creamy Chili Dip. They will be available at all participating restaurants nationwide by May 5, marking the first time since 2021 the chain has introduced a permanent menu item in the U.
S. Alyssa Buetikofer, McDonald’s chief marketing and customer experience officer, says that customer demand for chicken strips has been “remarkable to see.” There have been begging to bring them back, and the chain has finally relented.
McCrispy Strips feature white-meat chicken coated in “crispy golden-brown breading” and a new black pepper flavor. The sure-to-be-popular poultry item comes with the new Creamy Chili Dip, which is described as a savory, sweet and tangy sauce. Customers can order McCrispy Strips in a three-piece with one sauce or four-piece with two sauces, and can opt for Creamy Chili Dip, Honey Mustard, Tangy Barbecue and Spicy Buffalo, .
First launched in 2002, Chicken Selects spent more than a decade on McDonald’s menu before they were taken off in 2013. The product but didn’t stick around for long. In 2017, they came back under the name “Buttermilk Crispy Tenders,” but were discontinued again in 2020 at the start of the pandemic.
The McCrispy Strips’ sandwich sibling is already being added to menus: the McCrispy, a fried crispy chicken sandwich featuring crinkle-cut pickles on a roll, which will be available in nearly all markets by the end of the year.
