McDonald's customers are up in arms after noticing a slight change to a popular sauce. Regulars at the Golden Arches have their go-to orders down to a tee, including their preferred choice of dip. From classic ketchup and barbecue to the bolder sweet curry or chilli options, something usually satisfies everyone.

However, the fast-food giant's Sweet and Sour sauce, a menu mainstay since 1983, has undergone a tweak that hasn't gone unnoticed. TikTok users have been vocal about the alteration, with one user, Demi (@demmmx92), slamming the revamped sauce pot as "disgusting" due to an unexpected ingredient switch-up. The comments section quickly filled up with similar disappointment.

One person commented: "I thought it tasted like apricot, it's overwhelming!" Another added: "I knew it tasted different! I thought it was just me!" A third wrote: "Honestly I'm gutted! It's the only sauce I liked from there. I can't have maccies without this sauce!" Another fumed: "How dare they change it without asking us! Not even joking I love this stuff." Another went as far as to call it "absolutely vile" now, reports the Mirror .

The sauce saga has even sparked concern among fans of other McDonald's dips. One worried fan posted: "If they've changed sweet curry I will not be responsible for my actions!" While another speculated: "I'm convinced they changed the barbecue as well now! " A third asked: "I had sweet curry the other day and swore blind it was different, have they changed them all?" Another TikToker and McDonald's worker, @Kenyaxo , suggested that the sauce 'change' might have been "an upgrade". She managed to compare the 'new and old' versions, claiming the 'changed' recipe appeared "a lot sweeter" and "thinner", which she believed improved its suitability for dipping.

According to Demi's video, the shift from "pureed apricot" to "apricot pulp" in the ingredients could account for the sweeter taste some customers remarked on, raising mixed feelings among the devotees. It comes as McDonald's has stirred excitement with the announcement of its festive menu's comeback, flaunting beloved treats like the Big Tasty, Cheesy McCrispy burger and introducing the Terry's Chocolate Orange Pie for Christmas . Recently, the controversial McRib made way for the Double Chilli Cheeseburger in the meantime.
