Daily Journal staff report The Kankakee community marked a monumental moment on Nov. 26, as the MCA Senior Adult Day Center opened its doors, providing a much-needed service for local seniors and their families. The first independently-owned senior adult day care center in Kankakee County, MCA aims to make every day meaningful for its clients, celebrating their dignity and vitality.

Located at 1292 W. Station St. in Kankakee, MCA has been in the making, driven by the vision and dedication of Alicia Kleinert, its founder and executive director.

With community support, the center has reached this milestone to offer structured, engaging activities and a safe, supportive environment for seniors during the day. “Today is about more than opening this center — it’s about creating a space where seniors can thrive, and caregivers can find peace of mind,” said Kleinert on opening day. She also acknowledged the efforts of the MCA board, donors and community partners who contributed to the center’s successful launch.

The center’s programs focus on fostering socialization, cognitive stimulation and physical activity, tailored to the unique needs of older adults. MCA aims to alleviate caregiver stress while helping seniors maintain independence and quality of life. This opening has already seen a warm reception from the community, with several seniors and their families attending the inaugural day’s activities.

The facility features interactive spaces for art, music and group exercise, along with quiet areas for relaxation. MCA’s opening is not only a step forward for senior care in Kankakee but also a testament to the power of a united community. With a growing demand, the center is poised to make a lasting impact.

As the day center begins its journey, Kleinert and her team are committed to expanding their reach and ensuring that every senior in Kankakee County has the opportunity to lead a vibrant, fulfilling life. For more information, visit mcasenioradultdaycenter.org or call 779-701-9185.
