The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) is set to hold a ‘Career Fair’ for the first time to educate players about the possible career opportunities outside the sport. According to a report by the Times of India , the decision was taken during the MCA’s apex council meeting that took place on Friday. “The MCA will organise a ‘Career Fair’ for MCA players, which will feature meet-and-greet events with top executives from various corporate organisations, as well as former and current India cricketers.

The primary focus of this event will be on the recruitment of cricketers, providing players with career opportunities both within and outside of cricket,” said the MCA President, Ajinkya Naik. The MCA will also organise an ‘Equipment Fair’ for the players which are directly from the manufacturers and would be given at the best possible price points. An equipment fair will be arranged for MCA players and affiliated clubs, providing a platform for players to purchase equipment directly from the manufacturers at best possible price,” the MCA President also revealed.

Another measure which has also been introduced by the MCA is the move to provide relief to junior players who come from humble backgrounds. To aid this, the MCA will provide first-class passes for local train travel and allowances to the trainees who are picked for the off-season camp across various categories (U-14, U-16, U-19 Boys and U-15, U-19, U-23 and Senior Women) The MCA will also take care of the match-day expenses for the affiliated office clubs that will take part in the Times Shield and the MCA Corporate Trophy where they will distribute subsidies to the affiliated office, schools and college clubs. The third Test between India and New Zealand, which is set to be played at the Wankhede Stadium from November 1 to November 5 will also see the MCA selling tickets at the same rate as the tickets for the last Test which was held at the venue, coincidentally being the same two teams that played in December 2021.

They will also build a new air-conditioned enclosure for the club secretaries at the Vithal Divecha Pavillion at the Wankhede Stadium as well..
