MC chief sets New Year deadline for delayed projects

Ludhiana: Taking view of prolonged delay in completion of ongoing development projects , MC commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal has fixed deadline till New Year for these projects. On Saturday he inspected the ongoing development projects, including those being taken up under the Smart City Mission . He issued strict directions to the officials and contractors concerned to complete the projects to establish indoor swimming pool near Rakh Bagh and basketball courts project in Guru Nanak Stadium by New Year.

Directions were also issued to ensure good quality work. Dachalwal also inspected the ongoing project to establish a road on the other side of the Buddha nullah and directed the officials to complete this project too by New Year. Discussions were also held regarding removal of remaining encroachments around the water body.



Remaining in the field for around two hours, Dachalwal also inspected the projects that have been recently completed by the civic body, including badminton courts in Shastri Badminton Hall and laying of athletic track in Guru Nanak Stadium. He also inspected the green belt established alongside Buddha nullah near Kundanpuri. Dachalwal said no laxity would be tolerated and the officials and contractors concerned had been directed to expedite the projects and complete the above mentioned projects by December end (before New Year).

These projects would benefit the residents/sports persons at large. Dachalwal further said that he would be monitoring the projects on a regular basis and the officials concerned have also been directed to ensure that there is no compromise with the quality of the works.
