As we approach the end of another year, I would like to wish our community a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a wonderful New Year. or signup to continue reading Our community has shown remarkable resilience and unity throughout the year. The support and collaboration among residents, local businesses, and community groups has been truly inspiring.

On behalf of the Councillors and Council staff, I extend my heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you for your contributions. Your efforts have made our community stronger, more connected and vibrant. Despite the weather, a crowd of 5,000 gathered to enjoy a night of spectacular entertainment at "Magic of Christmas", which kicked off Council's Summer Events Series.

A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to making the event a resounding success. It was wonderful to see the community getting into the festive spirit. Following on from the highs of Magic of Christmas, we have some incredibly exciting events lined up this Summer.

Coming up in January is our Australia Day Program which includes our Annual Australia Day Awards and outdoor picnic at Carss Bush Park. We have a new addition this year, Yarn Up: Celebrating Cultures and Understanding Australia Day, at Carss Bush Park, a special event featuring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural performances. February will see the return of our annual Lunar New Year Festival, welcoming the Year of the Snake and celebrating the Georges River area's cultural diversity.

As we embrace the festive season, I encourage everyone to enjoy the company of family and friends. This is a time for joy, laughter, and creating cherished memories. However, we must also remember that this season can be challenging for some.

Let us spread kindness and compassion, reaching out to those who may need a little extra support. Finally, whether you are traveling or celebrating at home, please stay safe and take care of yourselves, families, friends and neighbours over the holiday period. Together, we can ensure that this festive season is enjoyable and safe for all.

May the New Year bring prosperity, good health, and abundant happiness to all. I'm looking forward to the new opportunities 2025 will bring and the exciting adventures and achievements that await the Georges River community in the coming year.
