Max Eberl says Bayern Munich is open to all options regarding Mathys Tel’s transfer request

Mathys Tel recently requested that Bayern Munich let him leave for more game time, with minutes in Munich hard to come by for the 19-year-old. He then started in the Champions League against Slovan Bratislava, and said goodbye to the fans after the final whistle. Sporting director Max Eberl understood why Tel wanted out, and wants to weigh the options for the player.

“He said that the playing time wasn’t enough for him and that’s understandable”, Eberl said (via @iMiaSanMia ). “Nevertheless, we would have liked him to keep fighting. There’s no bad blood.

I can understand him. I’ve rarely had so many clubs call me about a player before. We spoke in December and Mathys said he wanted to establish himself.

Now he said he wants to leave. We have to think about whether we will do it and what we will do.” A previously explored option was a swap deal with Chelsea FC for Christopher Nkunku, but that rumor has since cooled off.

Since then, several European clubs are reportedly sniffing around. Looking for further discussion about the game? If so, consider listening to our Postgame Show!
