When I was an undergraduate, I ignored Mathematics, thinking it wouldn’t be essential in my field.

When I was an undergraduate, I ignored Mathematics, thinking it wouldn’t be essential in my field. However, after completing my matriculation, I enrolled in college. They gave me a test, and while only a few questions were related to Mathematics, I still failed.

As a result, I wasn’t granted admission. This experience taught me that Mathematics is often neglected and undervalued because of its perceived difficulty. Despite this, it is the foundation of every field and holds its own importance in all areas of life.



Moreover, the benefits of studying Mathematics are significant. It helps develop critical thinking skills and improves concentration. Anyone who studies it is likely to have better career opportunities in the future.

Furthermore, Mathematics plays a vital role in our daily lives, with its applications appearing in almost every aspect of life. Unfortunately, many students find it difficult and choose not to study it. Even educational institutions that teach the 9th and 10th-grade curriculum often neglect it.

Teachers attempt to teach it, but they often fail to clarify students’ concepts. Typically, only one or two students in a class fully understand it, while the rest struggle.

During exams, many either fail or resort to cheating to pass. When asked why they dislike Mathematics, students commonly respond, “It’s difficult to understand.” They develop the mindset that Mathematics is hard and impossible to learn.

Teachers also perpetuate this by telling students that Mathematics is the most challenging subject. As a result, students don’t study it properly and fail the exams. In such cases, parents and teachers often do nothing to address the issue.

Rather than encouraging them to overcome their struggles, they simply agree, saying, “Yes, it is difficult.” In conclusion, Mathematics should not be ignored. It should be given the same value as other subjects.

Academies must also teach it effectively, and students should be made aware of its importance. Teachers, instead of labelling it as difficult, should encourage students by saying, “It’s a piece of cake.” Finally, I urge everyone not to ignore Mathematics, as I now understand its true value.
