1 2 Pune: Three masked men broke into two bungalows in Rajuri village, Junnar taluka, about 90 km from Pune, in the early hours of Saturday. They looted gold jewellery and cash worth Rs5 lakh before fleeing, police said. A 39-year-old farmer, one of the bungalow owners, lodged a complaint at the Alephata police station.
The robbers forcibly took gold jewellery from his wife, daughter, and mother. An officer from Alephata police told TOI, "The complainant and his elder brother own two separate bungalows in Rajuri village. On Friday night, the complainant, along with his wife, son, and daughter, stayed at his brother's bungalow to look after his unwell mother.
" Around 1:30am, the farmer was awakened by his mother's screams from the ground floor. "When he rushed downstairs, he saw three masked men in the living room. One of them threatened him with a knife and demanded valuables," the officer said.
The robbers forced the complainant's mother, wife, and 12-year-old daughter to remove their jewellery. Before leaving, they warned the family not to raise an alarm. "They stole Rs50,000 in cash and gold jewellery from the cupboard.
The total value of the stolen items is around Rs5 lakh," the officer added. After the robbers left, the farmer alerted his neighbours and reported the incident to the police. "The complainant said the robbers, aged between 30 and 35, spoke in Marathi and had their faces were covered," the officer said.
A case of robbery and theft has been registered. "We are reviewing CCTV footage to trace the culprits," the officer confirmed. Get the latest lifestyle updates on Times of India, along with EID Wishes , Messages and quotes !.
