Nestled in the heart of London, this delightful pocket of the city feels like a world apart, with its picturesque streets and warm, inviting atmosphere. My recent holiday-at-home in Marylebone left me both relaxed and rejuvenated, with enough Christmas cheer to last through the season. (Image: Marylebone Village) I spent 24 hours in the village from Saturday to Sunday mid-afternoon, and in addition to feeling like I was on a festive trip away with all the beautiful lights, I did some shopping, beautifying, eating, drinking and more.

The cherry on top? A luxurious stay at The Marylebone Hotel, which added an extra dose of indulgence to an already magical experience. A Sparkling Start: Christmas Lights Marylebone’s Christmas lights are nothing short of magical. Draped across its quaint streets, they set the perfect festive tone as you wander through.

(Image: Marylebone Village) Not as overwhelming as Oxford Street’s grandiose displays, Marylebone’s decorations have an understated elegance, creating a cosy atmosphere that feels intimate rather than hectic. Whether strolling along Marylebone High Street or weaving through side streets like Moxon Street, you can’t help but feel a little enchanted. They really helped me feel in the festive spirit, and created a beautiful ambience.

Boutique Shopping at Its Best Shopping in Marylebone is a treat for those who prefer something a little more personal. From independent bookshops like Daunt Books to chic boutiques offering everything from curated homeware to luxury clothing, you’ll find unique gifts for even the trickiest names on your Christmas list. I spent hours meandering between stores, delighting in their festive window displays and chatting with friendly shopkeepers.

Some highlights include Sealskinz – a brand-new addition to Marylebone Lane, specialising in creating world class waterproof accessories, including hats, socks, and gloves; Bayley & Sage – a grocery store which you’ll never be able to beat and ME+EM – the newly opened store for the brand. A Hair Refresh at Atherton Cox What’s a staycation without a little pampering? I treated myself to a visit to Atherton Cox, one of Marylebone’s standout hair salons.

The experience was everything you’d hope for—stylish yet welcoming. Their talented team left me feeling refreshed with a blow dry, and my boyfriend with a smart hair cut. (Image: Immy Share, Newsquest) The salon’s chic décor and exceptional service added a luxurious touch to my day.

Plus, it’s Christmas decorations are something to admire. A stay at The Marylebone Hotel Located in the heart of the village, The Marylebone Hotel is the ideal base for a getaway. From the moment you step inside, the hotel exudes understated elegance, with its stylish design and warm, welcoming staff.

(Image: The Marylebone) My room was a haven of comfort: plush bedding, modern touches, and views of the twinkling streets below. The hotel’s attention to detail shone through, from the delicious seasonal treats left in my room to the cosy ambiance of the open fire in the lounge. (Image: Immy Share, Newsquest) For a morning pick-me-up, the hotel’s stunning indoor pool and Third Space gym were a welcome bonus, though I must admit I spent more time enjoying their dreamy breakfast spread at 108 Brasserie, featuring everything from perfectly poached eggs to seasonal pastries.

The location of the hotel is unbeatable—everything Marylebone Village has to offer is just steps away, meaning you can immerse yourself in the neighbourhood without ever feeling rushed. A Quick drink at The Cavendish Of course, no trip to Marylebone is complete without a stop at The Cavendish, a local pub that’s as stylish as it is inviting. With its relaxed vibe and an excellent selection of craft beers and wines, it was the perfect spot to unwind after a day of exploring.

(Image: Marylebone Village) The staff were friendly, and the cosy interiors added an extra layer of warmth to an already wonderful evening. The Christmas decorations looked like something out of a movie, and stood out on the street from a mile off. Italian Elegance at Lina Stores For dinner, I couldn’t resist Lina Stores, a chic Italian restaurant that feels both authentic and contemporary.

Nestled on Marylebone Lane, its pastel interiors and buzz ambiance set the stage for an unforgettable meal. (Image: Immy Share, Newsquest) The pasta, handmade with care, was as indulgent as any I’ve had in Italy. From tomato pasta to the perfectly creamy burrata, every bite felt like a celebration.

Pairing the dishes with a glass (or two) of their exquisite Italian wine made for a memorable evening. A Cosy Sunday at The Coach Makers Arms No holiday, near or far, is complete without a hearty Sunday lunch, and The Coach Makers Arms delivered in spades when I woke up the next day. This traditional pub combines old-world charm with elevated comfort food.

Their roast beef, served with all the trimmings, was the perfect remedy for a crisp winter’s day for my friend, and I enjoyed the battered haddock and chips over a lovely glass of bubbly and a natter. (Image: Immy Share, Newsquest) The roaring fireplace and friendly service made it feel like Christmas had come early. Marylebone Village offers a slice of seasonal magic without the hassle of long journeys or airports.
