ELKTON — The Maryland State Police Homicide Division remains on the scene Saturday afternoon after a shooting overnight in an Elkton-area neighborhood, an MSP spokeswoman told the Cecil Whig. Elena Russo said investigators are not releasing much information at this point but have the area at the intersection of Elkton Road and Fletchwood Road -- near the state line -- closed to traffic for the investigation. "Maryland State Police are on the scene of an apparent shooting," Russo said, and added it is not an active shooter event and there is no danger to the public.
She could not say how many were shot or the condition of any victims at this early stage in the shooting, which she said happened before daybreak. Anyone with information that could help with the investigation is being asked to contact MSP at the North East barrack, 410-996-7800. This is a developing story.
